Dear Chamber Financial Aid Saturday Program Partners, Friends, Colleagues and Volunteers:

I hope you are all set to enjoy the holidays with your families! I am reaching out to thank you once again for your support at our 2015 Financial Aid Saturday (FAS) events, and to ask for your help on our 2016 regional FAFSA completion efforts. Thanks in great part to the support you provided at FAS events, our Class of 2015 seniors ended the year with a 63% FAFSA completion rate. For these seniors, Q1 aid filings on metro Austin campuses rose by 3% over Q1 2014, to a regional average of 45% and yielded approximately $8 million more in federal, state, and institutional aid to college bound Central Texas students. Over all program impact for Q1 2015, approximated $121 million in financial aid for Central Texas families. Thanks to your support, approximately 79% of FAFSA filers are able to matriculate to college.

For 2016, we aim to achieve a 55% Q1 regional FAFSA completion rate for Central Texas, and increase regional filings to over 11,700 filings yielding $127 million in financial aid to help support a 70% direct-to-college enrollment rate Class of 2016 graduates.

If you, your colleagues and friends would like to volunteer to help Central Texas families at our 2016 FAS events, please take a few minutes to sign up for a training session using the link below:

All trainings will include lunch and run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You do not need to be an expert on financial aid to participate and our training lunches will teach you what you need to know in order to help. Please note that financial aid officers from partner colleges will be present at all Financial Aid Saturday events, if any volunteer needs help assisting a student or parent with a more complicated FAFSA or TASFA filing question.

Please feel free to e-mail me, or Andrew Feller, our newly appointed Director of Programs, with any questions. Andy joined our team this September, and will be helping coordinate work related to our Financial Aid Saturdays Program and regional college transition efforts.

Thanks in advance for your support to make college more accessible and affordable for Central Texas families.

    Best,

    Gilbert
