Why WE Need Voter ID‏ by Professor Bob Green

I get really tired of all the Democrats whining that our Voter ID law was some type of nefarious Republican plot that was intended solely to suppress the votes of minorities and the elderly.  Nothing is said about suppressing the votes of those who are actually ineligible TO vote in a particular election.  The Democrats constantly complain that there are SOOOO many people in these categories who don’t even have a photo ID, and that it would place such a tremendous burden on them to get one.  “Burdensome”…such BS!  (Even the SCOTUS has said that it does not impose an undue burden to require a photo ID for voting.)  My first thought was “How in the hell do these people manage to get along WITHOUT a photo ID these days?”  It seems that one is required for just about any business transaction that involves a check or a credit card, travel by air, or to pick up a prescription drug.

Eric Holder is constantly trying to “mess with Texas” (and with the other states that have passed similar ID legislation) in any way that they can conjure up.  It’s all designed to delay any implementation until after the November election.  They lie and fear monger to their core constituency to avoid talking about the abject failures of this administration…the $15.6 trillion debt, the $1+ trillion deficits every year that Obama’s been in office, the failure to create a budget, as required by law, all of the inept, unvetted and unconfirmed czars that have bloated the federal bureaucracy, the union bailouts at Chrysler and GM, the scandals, the non-stimulating stimuli legislation, “cap-n-tax,” an unpopular (and likely unconstitutional) mandate on individuals (except Congress, federal employees and about 1,400 other groups of favored supporters who got waivers) to purchase government -approved health insurance, and all of the “green energy” companies that were supposed to be the future of American energy production that went bankrupt, all he was while killing the American coal industry an crippling oil and natural gas production to raise the price of fuel towards levels seen in Europe.

And finally, the Dems say that we don’t need voter ID because there’ so few cases of fraud.  Well, here’s a story from the president’s own neighborhood:

4 Indiana Dems charged with election fraud in 2008 presidential race

Felony charges related to election fraud have touched the 2008 race for the highest
office in the land.  Prosecutors in South Bend, Ind., filed charges Monday against four St. Joseph County Democratic officials and deputies as part of a multiple-felony case involving the alleged forging of Democratic presidential primary petitions in the 2008 election, which put then-candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the Indiana ballot.
The officials are accused of taking part in a scheme to fake signatures and names on the primary petitions needed to run for president.  Court papers say the plan was hatched by local Democratic Party officials inside the local party headquarters.
Among those charged is the former long-time chairman of the St. Joseph County Democratic Party, Butch Morgan, who allegedly ordered the forgeries.  He was forced to resign when the allegations were first made public last October, even though his lawyer, Shaw Friedman, told Fox News at the time that Morgan did not do anything wrong.
The St. Joseph County Board of Voter Registration’s Democratic board member, Pam Brunette, Board of Voter Registration worker Beverly Shelton and Democratic volunteer
and former board worker Dustin Blythe also face charges.
Anything that any state, including Texas, can do to more fully ensure the integrity of their elections by making any such practices more difficult and more-easily detectable would be a good thing.

Is there anything about the Obama administration that doesn’t reek of discriminatory application and enforcement of laws and the arbitrary and capricious abuse of power? Obama’s best defense against the charge that he’s doing outrageous things is that to correctly accuse him of committing these actions makes one look like a kook. Viewed alone, they are quite disconcerting. Taken together, especially with the levels of audacity and arrogance that would impress any tyrant, they are immensely troubling.
